Taiwanese smartphone giant, HTC has launched two new smartphones — the HTC One (E8) and the Desire 616 in the Indian market. Only the Dual SIM variants of each phone has been released here with the One (E8) priced at ₹34,990 and the Desire 616 priced at ₹16,900.

The One (E8) was launched in June, in the West, with a single SIM variant, sports a design similar to the One (M7) released last year, though much curvier and is made of polycarbonate instead of metal. HTC refers to this design as ‘Dual Curve’ and claims that it fits naturally in the user’s hand in virtually any position. For those unaware, the One (E8) is the same phone which the company claimed to have sold 50,000 units of in just 15 minutes in China.
The One (E8), runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 UI running on top, sports a 5-inch SLCD 3 display with a full-HD (1080p) resolution, translating to a pixel density of 441ppi. It supports ‘Motion Launch’ gestures that were seen in the HTC One (M8). Unlike the One(M8) though, this phone only features a 13MP rear autofocus camera instead of the One(M8)’s dual camera setup consisting of a 4 Ultra-pixel camera and a depth-sensing camera. The phone does, however, have a 5MP front camera for enhanced selfies. Both the cameras can shoot video in Full-HD.
It comes with 16 GB of in-built storage, which is expandable via microSD card unto 128GB. In terms of connectivity options, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with Direct and DLNA functionality; 4G LTE; 3G; GPRS/ EDGE; GPS/ A-GPS with Glonass; Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP; Micro-USB; and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It comes with 4GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32 GB, via microSD card.
It features an 8MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash that supports full-HD video recording and a 2MP front-facing camera. It has a 2000mAh battery.
On the wireless connectivity front, the smartphone offers Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G. In India, the phone comes in dark fray and pearl white colours only.
